Help needed for Eagle Project - October 27

I plan to work on my Eagle Scout Project next Saturday, October 27.  We will meet at the Wilderness Station at Barfield Crescent Park at approximately 8:00 AM.

I have been coordinating with Ms. Deborah Paschall, Program Coordinator  at Barfield Crescent Park.  We have identified and marked ten trees in the park to hang the ten bat houses from.  I have to meet with Ms. Paschall again to finalize a few details.

I believe we will need two long ladders to hang the bat houses the 12-15 feet above the ground, recommended by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA).  If anyone has ladders long enough, please let me know and then bring them on Saturday, October 27.  Work clothes and work gloves should be worn.  If we get the ladders, I cannot think of any other special tools.  I will have the "straps" recommended by Ms. Paschall to hang the bat houses.

Thank you.  Patrick Horne

Troop 398 News - Oct 18

BELL BUCKLE CRAFT FAIR PARKING
This Saturday and Sunday, we will park cars at Webb School for the Bell Buckle Craft Fair. All money earned will be divided among those who work based on the hours worked. Hours worked by parents will be credited to their son's account. Wear your Class A uniform and bring a canteen and rain gear just in case. The weather looks great - a little cool in the morning and 80's during the day. This could mean a big crowd which could be good and bad. Saturday is usually a heavier day than Sunday. The fair runs Sat 9-5 and Sunday 9-4. We will need a small group there early (7AM), with others following a little later (7:30-8AM).

Driving directions: Go South on US 231 toward Shelbyville - watch for the sign to Bell Buckle you will turn left at a BP Station on to highway 82. Drive straight into town, cross the railroad tracks and continue on hwy 82 past the post office. Turn left at the Methodist Church Abernathy Street (???) and follow the "Parking " signs until you get to the Webb School Softball field where the road makes a hard left turn. Lunch (Hot Dogs) will be provided or you can chow down at one of the vendors if you bring some money.

Mr Harden and Mr. Falana will be in charge. Their cell phones are: (615) 631-0080 and (615) 289-1164. The plan is to travel up and back on your own. Parents usually like to browse through the craft exhibits. If you need a ride, or if you have not signed up, contact Mr. Harden or Mr Falana

OCTOBER CAMP OUT
We will not be going to the District Campout at Grimes Canoe Base this weekend - this was a tough decision, but we just didn't have enough scouts going to justify the expense. We just have too many things going on this weekend and this month. Any scouts and Dads who wish to travel individually and participate would be welcomed at the Camporee. David and Reed Spivey are planning to go down on Sat - if you are interested call or email Mr Spivey 867-9005 or dwspivey@yahoo.com .

Some adults are planning a cleanup this Saturday at 8:00 AM. Come on by if you're free. If you have a battery drill that will drive dry wall screws, bring it! see you there.

TROOP EQUIPMENT
If anyone knows the where our large white plastic folding tables are, please let us know, they are missing from the troop trailer. If anyone wants a used over the stove micro wave oven, one showed up at the Nest and you are welcome to it. We are trying to get our troop tents back together if you have one, please bring it in!
