Summer Camp
Balance of Summer Camp fees are due Monday, May 24th. If you paid a $30 deposit by April 1st, you owe $145. First year campers who have not paid a deposit owe $175. Other campers who have not paid a deposit owe $195.
Troop Court of Honor
We will have a Troop Court of Honor & Summer Camp Update on Monday, June 7th at 7:00 PM.
Eagle Service Projects
We have several Life Scouts who will be planning work days in the near future. Please help out as much as possible – someday you will be needing help on a project.
Daniel Moreland is planning a work day for this Saturday, May 22nd. Weather permitting, it will be at the Broadmore Assisted Living Home on Memorial Blvd. We will work in the garden area from 9-1.
Lunch will be provided. Please bring any lawn tools (shovels, edgers, work gloves).
2010-2011 Opportunities at Northern Tier, Ely, Minnesota
In addition to the regular treks, we also offer an Order of the Arrow Voyage for OA members 16 – 20 years of age. These treks are 14 days long and include a week of trail building/conservation work and a weeklong canoe trek all for a total of $150.00. Besides the 9 voyages through our Minnesota base there is the Canadian Odyssey OA voyage. (Costs $200) This will still entail a week of trail repair but will conclude with a challenging paddle across the Quetico Provincial Park trek back to the Ely, Minnesota base. This is an individual sign up program.
We also are looking for 2011 seasonal staff. Staff applications can also be downloaded from our website: www.ntier.org Opportunities are available for young people 18 years old and older. Positions are available in the Dining Hall, Outfitting (trail gear and trail food), Maintenance, History Staff, and Office as well as the Trail Staff Canoe Counselor position. You can Paddle! Portage! And Get Paid!
National Youth Leadership Training
Scouts are invited to attend National Youth Leadership Training to be held July 18th-23rd at Boxwell Scout Reservation. NYLT is scouts who are at least age 13 and have achieved the First Class rank. Registration for one of the 48 slots available will be on a first come first served basis, so you are asked to act now if you would like to participate in the course.
At NYLT you will learn what an effective youth leader must BE, KNOW and DO to have a more exciting scouting program within your troop. Coming to NYLT will teach you leadership skills and how to apply them to your troop. You'll experience the National Youth Leadership Training program in action. You will learn about goal Setting, planning, and the importance of ethical decision-making among other skills. You'll develop a vision for your troop and for yourself.
The Middle Tennessee Council has put together a great staff under the leadership of Senior Patrol Leader J.J. Norman to ensure that you receive excellent training. We'll spend the time from July 18th-23rd applying these leadership skills. You'll make new friends and share ideas with scouts from all across the Middle Tennessee Council.
To apply, complete the enclosed application, including your Scoutmaster's recommendation, and send it to the Middle Tennessee Council Service Center, Attention Program & Camping Services, 3414 Hillsboro Pike, Nashville, TN 37215. Registration for one of the 48 slots available will be on a first come first served basis, so you are asked to act now if you would like to participate in the course. You will be sent further information on the course upon registration.
Philmont Contingent/Crew Meeting
We will have a very important meeting on June 1 at 7pm at the Eagle's nest. All crew members and families are encouraged to attend. All crews will meet briefly and then break out into individual crews to elect crew leaders, select tent mates, discuss gear, etc. I can't stress enough the importance of all members attending this meeting. Unless all members are present we cannot elect leaders.
Please plan to have phyiscals filled out and turn in to Crew Advisor by Monday June 14th.
Also, hope to have Crew shirts. Please pay Mr. Holtman they will be debited from Scout accounts – Shirts are $ 15.00 ea.
