Poinsettia Sales

Orders are due Monday, Nov. 29. The troop has to pay for the poinsettias when we order them, so it would be helpful to collect as you take the order. Summer Camp Staff Opportunities

Dear Scout Leader,

The 2011 Summer Camp season is in its planning stages. Summer Camp staff is an important element to having a great program. Boxwell Reservation has always tried to have the best staff possible.

This is where you come in. Do you have any scouts age 15 or older that you feel would contribute to our Summer Camp experience?

Are they outgoing, energetic, knowledgeable, proven leaders and hard workers? If so, please provide a copy of the Summer Camp 2011 Staff Application to that Scout you think is worthy.

Interviews are for December 11, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Boxwell Reservation,

Parish High Adventure Center. Deadline to submit an applications is December 31, 2010.

For those staff members that are in college or seniors getting ready to enter college, there is a scholarship fund available! Please see the information/application about the Laura and William Miller Scholarship Laura and William Miller Scholarship for Summer Camp Staff. The deadline for the scholarship is December 17.

Also, Scouts who are 14 years old can serve 2 weeks as a Counselor-in-Training (CIT) . We have enclosed a CIT application for those Scouts.

I look forward to receiving your Scout’s applications. Thank you for your help in making Boxwell’s 2011 Summer Camp Staff the best staff yet!

Sincerely, Carl Adkins, Director of Support Services, Middle Tennessee Council, Boy Scouts of America

Eagle Courts of Honor

Logan Sissom will receive his Eagle Award at 7:00 PM (note this is a change from 2:00 PM) on Saturday, Dec. 11th at the Rutherford County Courthouse. All Troop members are invited.

Adult Aquatics Supervisor – Swimming and Water Rescue Training

This is new – I understand at some point we will have to have someone trained in order to get a trip permit for canoeing or sailing. Tenn Tech is offering this as adult training at their MBU. If you are interested contact Dorsey Horne.

Message from Tenn Tech:

The Tennessee Tech University Merit Badge University has added another training feature to our program this year. This opportunity is for adults to complete the "Swimming and Water Rescue" portion of the new BSA National "Aquatics Supervisor" program. If your troop has adults who would like to register for this new training opportunity, please e-mail me their names and troop affiliation. We will take the first 20 adults who register. There is no additional fee for this program, however the participants will be required to purchase and read the training manual (Aquatics Supervision Guide) prior to the MBU. This manual can be purchased from at the Middle Tennessee Council Scout shop.
