Troop Meeting
This is an important meeting – lots of things going on!
- Poinsettia Sales - Orders are due this Monday, Nov. 29. The troop has to pay for the poinsettias when we order them, so it would be helpful to collect as you take the order. In any case, collect when you deliver the poinsettias and pay Mr. Holtman as soon as possible. Checks can be made out to "Troop 398 BSA (poinsettias)"
- Popcorn Sales - All money from Popcorn sales must be turned in this Monday, Nov. 29.
- Scouting for Food - Please remember to bring in any food you’ve collected this Monday so we can have someone turn it in next Sat.
- Metal Work Merit Badge - Mr. Barrett will be teaching Metalwork MB this Monday.
- SM Conference and Board of Review - This Monday will be your last chance to have a SM Conference or Board of Review prior to the Troop Court of Honor planned for Monday, Dec. 6th
- Scout Accounts - Mr. Holtman has brought all accounts up to date, please check your account balance with him.
- God and Country – Scouts who are working on God and Country will be planning the Christmas devotional for Sat. Dec 4th. See Mr. Warren this Monday.
December Camp Out
Please sign up as early as possible this week for the December Campout. It will be at Short Mountain once again next weekend, December 3-5. We will be sleeping in a heated cabin with beds and mattresses. Bring sleeping bag, warm clothes, work gloves. Saturday morning we will work on service projects (Adults bring a chain saw if you have one or prunners if you have either. We will go hiking Sat afternoon. We will cook as a troop. Parents and other family members are invited to come up and join us for supper Sat evening. Dress warmly, the dining hall is hard to heat. Come up early enough to enjoy the view. We traditionally plan a feast topped off by Dutch oven cobblers. The cost is estimated at $20 for all meals for the weekend or $12 for Sat. Supper only. Saturday evening we will have a Christmas devotional and voluntary gift exchange. If you want to participate, bring a small, appropriate, gift (approx. $5-$10). Those who bring a gift will participate in a drawing to exchange gifts. We usually play board games on Friday and Saturday nights - bring your favorite game. A sign-up sheet will be posted, but please email me if you do not plan to be at the troop meeting. - please be very accurate this time as to the meals you and your guests will eat. We usually have a large crowd so we need to be able to buy the right amount of food.
Directions to Short Mountain Bible Camp, 650 Bible Camp Road, Woodbury, TN 37190:
From St. Mark’s UMC, turn right onto N. Rutherford, proceed through 3 traffic lights and at the 4th light turn left onto Mercury Blvd. (US- 70/John Bragg HWY). Go to/through Woodbury toward McMinnville (approximately 30 miles). Turn left at Jct. Hwy 281 just past a school zone. Hwy 281 will dead-end at SR-146, turn left onto 146 N proceed 4.9 miles turning left at the Short Mountain Fire Tower/ Short Mountain Bible Camp signs. Proceed to Camp continuing up the mountain and turning right onto Bible Camp Road at the Camp sign.
Eagle Courts of Honor
Logan Sissom will receive his Eagle Award at 7:00 PM (note this is a change from 2:00 PM) on Saturday, Dec. 11th at the Rutherford County Courthouse. All Troop members are invited.
Tracking MB
Mr. Harden will be teaching the Tracking MB at the troop meeting on Monday, Dec13th. This will be your only opportunity to earn this historic merit badge.
Troop Calendar
A number of new dates have been added – to mention a few, Feb. Laser Tag Feb 11(no campout in Feb. due to the short month and other activities), March 18 -20 rappelling, April 8-10 backpacking, May 13-15 canoe camping.
