Troop Recharter Time
We are finalizing our charter renewal tomorrow – Friday, August 25th. If you have not yet talked to Jane Paxton or Mike Holtman, please email me or Mike Holtman at mike.holtman@yahoo.com right away. Youth and adult registration and Insurance is $16. If you want Boy’s Life, it is another $12. Troop annual dues are $50. You can pay from your Scout Account if you have enough in it.

Adults remember you must have completed Youth Protection Training within the last two years to register.

Eagle Service Project – This Saturday
Matthew Wells needs volunteers to work on his Eagle Project this Saturday, 8/27, from 8:00 until 12:00 at McFadden School on Bridge Avenue. All help is appreciated and welcomed. We will be moving rocks so everybody bring gloves and also wheel barrows if available. The project is located at the back of the school. If anybody has questions or needs directions then they can contact Matthew at (615) 898-0063.

New Eagle Scouts
Congratulations to Karl Klaus and Chip Adkins, Troop 398’s 110th and 111th Eagle Scouts. They successfully completed their Eagle Board of Review on Wed. night. Who’s next?

September Campout
Our next troop campout will be September 9 – 11. We now plan to camp at Montgomery Bell State Park. We have a number of scouts who need to pass off some requirements for Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class. This is a great place to pass off most of the requirements, especially cooking, land navigation and hiking. For older scouts, we’ll take our canoes and you can enjoy paddling and fishing on the lake. We will also do leadership training for our new troop leaders. A sign-up sheet is located on the Bulletin Board.

Service Opportunity
If you need service hours, or just want to help out, Murfreesboro City Schools needs volunteers to help with their Back To School Bash on Saturday, Aug. 27th at Cannonsburg. They need volunteers to assist with setup at 9:00a.m. and breakdown
at 1:30p.m. If you want to volunteer, contact Greg Liles. His contact information is as follows:

Troop Meeting Aug 29th
This will be an important meeting. We will have the kick off for popcorn sales and we will have elections for Senior Patrol Leader and Patrol Leaders.

Father and Son Dove Shoot
Brett Barrett is organizing a Father and Son dove shoot on Sept 3rd. This will not be an official troop activity since BSA Safety policy does not allow us to participate in hunting trips as a troop. A sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board – more details to follow.

2012 Canadian Canoe Trek at Ely, MN
Our second payment of $125/person is due on September 19, 2011. All payments made to the High Adventure Base are non-refundable, but they can be transferred to someone on our waiting list.
